California Collective

California Collective

California Collective was held January 23, 1999, at the Masterdome/San Bernadino Sports Arena in San Bernadino and was thrown by Go Ventures. This was Go Ventures’ thank you party for all of 1998, and a free CD was given as a part of this gesture.

Although the venue is called a sports arena, it’s more like a high school auditorium, with bleachers on both sides of the dance floor. The venue has two areas, one indoor and one outdoor, with a total capacity of about 2,200. House was being played in the main, indoor room and jungle in the outdoor area. Security was very friendly and non-intrusive. The venue was packed, but never got too hot.

As for lighting and visuals, Go Ventures always does a good job. Inside, there was a large video screen along with a large ballon with a video being projected on it. They had great lighting along with a few nice lasers. Outside, was pretty lit up by regular lights, but they had colored lights going as well.

The music at California Collective was pretty good I thought, even though I don’t like the progressive house all that much. I thought Charles Feelgood, Barry Weaver, and Green Velvet did the best performances of the night. It was cool when Feelgood and Green Velvet did a 2×4. In the jungle room, Mark Luv did a great hip-hop performance, and LA favorites R.A.W., Deacon, and Heretic all pleased the crowd. Around 4:30 AM, the jungle stopped, and Wilhelm K. came onto the decks surprisingly! He was at California Collective passing out tapes, but he wasn’t announced to be spinning. It was great to see some unexpected stuff happening at the party.

California Collective was a fun mid-sized rave put on by a promoter that usually does large events, but the results turned out great. More mid-sized events from them would be great, although their large-scale events are still fun too.

Dealing with a bad trip

Dealing with a bad trip

Sometimes, certain drugs can induce a ‘bad trip”. This can be either physical (eg: severe nausea or convulsions) and /or psychological. It can happen with any drug, but more commonly with LSD and Ecstasy.

NB: If at any stage you feel overwhelmed, or if you or a friend is experiencing severe physical or emotional reactions – do not hesitate to get help from a RaveSafe monitor or the paramedics.

The best way to prevent a bad trip is to follow the guidelines set out in the ‘If’ page on our website. There may however be times when a bad trip still happens.

People having bad trips can feel a number of things: confused, overwhelmed by crowds and attention, fear they are losing their minds, have hallucinations and can become paranoid. They can also become dangerously violent.

If you have to help someone, remember to stay calm, as anxiety and fear will worsen the situation.

Most people will respond to the A R R R T guidelines.

Acceptance: Try to gain the person’s trust and confidence by keeping calm. Try not to make them do anything they don’t want to do.

Reduce stimuli It is best to take the person to a quiet place, where they feel safe and comfortable, away from loud noise, crowds and bright lights. Sunglasses may help. Keep your movements slow and smooth, and don’t crowd the person – let them move freely.

Reassure the person that the drug is causing the effect, that it will go away with time and if they try to accept the feelings rather than fight them, things will look better, sooner. A positive attitude can often turn a trip around.

Rest. Make sure they are comfortable and use simple techniques for relaxation such as massage or even holding hands. If the person becomes violent or aggressive – call for help.

Talkdown. Talk constantly in a soothing tone. It may help to remind them who they are, and try discussing peaceful, pleasant topics. If they are having difficulty grounding themselves, get them to focus on your face. By getting them to think simple and happy thoughts, and creating a positive attitude, bad trips can often be turned around.

Cigarette Smoking Addiction in Teens

Cigarette Smoking Addiction in Teens

Because of advertisements and other forms of media that promote smoking, many teens think it is okay and cool to smoke. And the result is that many teens are getting addicted to nicotine and cigarettes. All over the world, smoking begins as a teenage experience. Few smokers have begun smoking as adults. In the United States, on an average day, at least 3,000 young people become regular smokers, and more than 6,000 adolescents try to smoke their first cigarette.

The outlook for regular smokers who began smoking as teenagers and continue into adulthood is grim. Research shows that people who start smoking before the age of 21 have the hardest time quitting. It is also estimated that about 30% of youth smokers who continue smoking well into adulthood would die early from a smoking-related disease. While smoking may be legal for adults, the medical costs associated with it are enormous. Many of those who suffer and die from smoking-related illnesses took up the habit in their teens.
In today’s health news, there seem to be startling new statistics regarding teen smoking.

It appears nearly one in five 13-to-15-year-old students worldwide uses some form of tobacco, according to the global youth tobacco survey started seven years ago, as a joint effort by the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Students from more than 130 countries responded to questions about tobacco, including personal use, secondhand exposure and advertising. The study found that Europe and the Americas had the highest rates of cigarette smoking, at approximately 18 percent.  In all regions, the use of other tobacco products was generally more common among boys than among girls. Nearly a quarter of high school students in the US smoke cigarettes. Another 8% use smokeless tobacco.

In addition to the innate dangers faced by the smoker, there are dangerous effects of secondhand smoke to non-smokers as well. Secondhand smoke causes many serious health problems. It contributes to as many as 300,000 cases of pneumonia, bronchitis, and other respiratory infections in infants and children every year. It is also one of the risk factors in the development of childhood asthma, causing 8,000 to 26,000 new cases each year. Smoking has many health risks for everyone. However, the younger a person starts to smoke, the more problems it can cause. The tobacco industry spends about million per day to market cigarettes, and most of this marketing is targeted at kids. To stop this kind of unethical advertising, critics argue Congress should pass legislation that would give the U.S. Food and Drug Administration the authority to regulate tobacco products and marketing, as well as to ban candy-flavored cigarettes.

Combating teen smoking in America is a really serious public health issue. It is relevant as well to the problems in developing countries faced with smoking by children and adolescents. The issues on teen smoking clearly speak to policy makers, health personnel, researchers, and young people. Each group has a role to play to address the growing health problems among minors.

Cocaine addiction treatment

Cocaine addiction treatment

A cocaine addiction treatment is a step–step process.

A cocaine addiction treatment is neither convenient nor easy. It is a very long process-in fact, winding, especially for those who don’t really get the much-needed help. What’s more, there will always be periods of withdrawal where the sufferer may feel of going back to the old ways. Cocaine can definitely affect the brain and the body, which makes it really hard to get rid of. Nevertheless, you have an option. You can go to a Florida cocaine rehab and be enrolled in a more holistic approach to healing.

The Process of Cocaine Addiction Treatment

It is very essential that the cocaine addiction treatment should cover all aspects of the sufferer. He doesn’t have to be treated emotionally alone, as cocaine can have a strong effect on the person’s body, particularly in his mind and nervous system. On the other hand, the program should not only focus on the physical aspect. He definitely needs as much support and emotional healing as he can possibly get.

The very first step for the cocaine addiction treatment is actually looking for a Florida cocaine rehab that offers a holistic program. This means that it doesn’t only have treatments and therapies for physical aspects, but for emotional, social, and intellectual aspects as well. Once you have already discovered the most ideal program for the sufferer, the very first step is then called medical detoxification.

What is medical detoxification? This is a crucial step where the patient will have to be completely unexposed to the cause of their addiction, which is cocaine. This is also commonly called withdrawal. Normally, a Florida cocaine rehab will have a supervisor or even a doctor to closely supervise and monitor the patient. After all, it’s during at this process that the urges to go back to the vice will start to kick in. It’s going to be a long fight, but if the sufferer can get through it, the rest of the program will go properly.

Physical Therapy

Cocaine can cause a lot of damage to a person’s body, and usually, this is one of the initial focus of a Florida cocaine rehab. The cocaine addiction treatment will then involve walking along the beach or the nature park, following a strict meal and exercise plan, constant meditating, or engaging in different kinds of sports.

Emotional TherapyA cocaine addiction treatment should also include emotional and intellectual healing. You will be surprised to know that the common underlying causes for the addiction are normally depression, suffering, pain, and anger-all related to the emotional aspect of the person. Cocaine, moreover, has a definite way of destroying lives and relationships. With proper emotional and intellectual therapy, a patient will be able to get hold of the reality of the problem and get the needed support, which will allow him to go through a recovery period with his loved ones.

A Florida cocaine rehab may offer one-on-one counseling, mentoring, workshops, healing sessions, and group discussions. Families are also encouraged to participate. Are you suffering from cocaine? Would you like to seek a cocaine addiction treatment? 12 Palms Recovery Center is a Florida cocaine rehab that offers not just physical healing but also emotional and intellectual therapy. It is their goal to ensure that the sufferer will live a free life once he steps out of the facility.

Naturally Detoxifying to Pass a drug test

Naturally Detoxifying to Pass a drug test

Naturally detoxifying to pass a drug test can help you pass your drug test if a little caution is exercised but should not be the sole means you rely on to pass a drug test.

First off, niacin and golden seal have been touted as ways to naturally passing a drug test . There has been some degree of success in passing a drug test with this approach but many of those efforts can now be detected when used to try to pass a drug test.

The important parts of attempting to naturally pass a drug test is that you will want to SLIGHTLY modify your diet and increase your exercise level. Increase cardio exercises such as walking or running, SLIGHTLY increase your water intake and increase the intake of vegetables in your diet. All of this will help your body naturally detoxify and assist you in passing your drug test.

However, your best bet is to buy products to pass a drug test.

Now, in many instances, as in if you need to pass a random drug test, attempts to naturally pass a drug test is not an option due to time constraints. In that instance you will need to rely solely on whatever flushing agent you use to pass your drug test.

Before you try to pass a drug test you should review a list of legal over the counter drugs that may result in you failing your drug test.

Essentially you want to determine legal substances that would cause a false positive drug test result. The key here is to prepare yourself with a reason for why you did not pass your drug test other than the fact you were using drugs.

If you need a way to pass a drug test I strongly urge you to check out these products specifically designed to pass a hair drug test, pass a urine drug test, pass a saliva drug test or even pass a random drug test. Passing a drug test is not a problem with the right detox product.

Get Clean Shampoo

Get Clean Shampoo

The Get Clean Shampoo masks unwanted hair toxins such as cocaine, marijuana, THC, nicotine, ecstasy, chemical and environmental pollutants. Toxins are circulated throughout the body via the blood stream and absorbed by the hair through the environment. Wet hair, and hair treated with styling gel are especially susceptible to environmental contamination (second hand smoke). When toxins are ingested the blood feeds the hair while it is in the growth stage. As the hair is formed the toxins are trapped inside the hair follicle. During the nicotine or drug test procedure, a hair sample is clipped from the back of the head near the scalp by the examiner.

Once sent to a laboratory the hair is dissolved with organic solvents. Once in a liquid solution, the toxins are freed from within the hair follicle. An extraction is performed on the liquid and drug toxins or nicotine toxins are removed. Once the nicotine or drug metabolites are isolated a GC/MS is performed just like with urinalysis testing. The Get Clean Shampoo works by coating the hair with an organic film much like a conditioner. When the examiner removes the hair sample the shampoo bound to the hair goes with it. Once the hair is dissolved, the residual left by the shampoo is free to interact with the nicotine or drug metabolites, which had been trapped in the hair follicle, masking the toxins.

Due to revised testing standards lowering the cut-off to 0.1ng on hair tests, this product is no longer guaranteed by Spectrum Labs. Not all labs have adopted the new standards yet, but there is no way to determine what cut-off a lab will use. Product Directions:

  1. Shake the bottle well before each use.
  2. Apply Get Clean Shampoo.
  3. Massage 1/2 of the bottle into scalp and out to ends of hair. Be sure to cover all hair, especially on the back of your neck.
  4. Cover with a shower cap; continue to massage scalp periodically.
  5. Let stand in hair for 30 minutes.
  6. Repeat the above with remainder of the bottle.
  7. DO NOT RINSE shampoo out until after the hair sample has been removed.
  8. Get Clean Shampoo is effective for 4-5 hours before the bloodstream puts toxins back into the hair.

Success Tips:
If you have long hair, or thicker hair such as African-American hair, you will need more than one bottle. Product Warnings:
For External Use Only. Current testing cut-off standards of 0.1ng, effectively a “0 tolerance” level, has caused the guarantee on this product to be withdrawn. This product is not intended for use on lawfully administered drug tests and is to be used in accordance with all federal and state laws. Cocaine found to constrict arteries in the brain

Cocaine found to constrict arteries in the brain

A new study suggests that use of cocaine causes blood vessels in the brain to became constricted, a condition associated with impaired thinking ability and memory loss.
In the study, published Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association, twenty-four past cocaine users were given varying doses of the drug. Images of the subjects brains, called magnetic resonanceangiography, taken before and 20 minutes after the cocaine was administered revealed vasoconstriction, or narrowing of the arteries that deliver blood to the brain, Marc Kaufman and colleagues at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Massachusetts, said.
The effect was cumulative, increasing with length and intensity of cocaine use, and could heighten the risk of suffering a drug-induced stroke and the loss of memory or
learning deficits, they said.

Otherwise healthy subjects between the ages of 24 and 34 who had used cocaine a median of eight times before were either given one of two intravenous dosages of the drug or a placebo. The higher the dosage and the greater the frequency of past usage correlated with more blood vessel constriction.

Tragedy at Full Moon

Tragedy at Full Moon

Many of you saw the KCAL report on the death of Pablo Mendoza at this past Moontribe event. Their report seemed a lot more fair than reports by other stations, mainly Fox 11 here in LA. Only flaw I saw was when John Abel’s mother called desert promoters money hungry. The promoters of Dune and Full Moon Gathering are the complete opposite of that. Again, our sympathies go out to the parents of Pablo Mendoza.

As many of us know, an individual died this past weekend at Moontribe’s Full Moon Gathering. The circumstances revolving this incident are sketchy at this point, but a little is known. The individual, Pablo Mendoza, was an 18 year old student at Brooks College. He fell off a cliff and plummeted down to the rocky bottom. Rumors say that he waved “bye” when he jumped. No one knows if he was on drugs or what drugs he was on.

In the meantime, local Los Angeles TV station, KCAL 9, has gotten wind of this incident and is planning to air a slanderous news report on Thursday. (2/4/99) Our scene got plenty of bad publicity last summer due to deaths and more is on the way. The way the mass media portrays our scene in Los Angeles is ridiculous. They say that five people have died at previous Moontribe events, but I hear that this is the first death they’ve encountered. KCAL goes and calls these “Killer Raves.” Hopefully, their report along with others in the future won’t have any reprecussions in our use of outdoor venues, unlike the incident last summer at Dune IV.
