The 'bad' stuff

"My brother graduated high school with a genious IQ and good looks, beside. He was every girls dream, and the pride of our family. Our family had money. Through divorce and some bad business decisions, he finally left us back in 1980's. I know now he'd been using all the while. Ben is nearly fifty now. In the last twelve years he has gone from a man who had looks, sensitivity toward others, and an intellect, to a man you'd hardly recognize. He uses crack.

He's lost nearly all of his teeth, his eyes are sunken, his cheeks hollow, his body wracked from the abuse of the drug. He looks like hell now. He's adopted a poverty mentality and uses guilt to manipulate his way back into our lives from time to time, blaming everyone but himself for how his life has turned out. He embezzels money from his aging parents. They've had to cancel their insurance policies to keep up with his demands. They are broke.

His concience is seared. His life is destroyed. He had the world before him, and now his life is near its end. Most druggies like him have burned out by his age--they're the ones you might see in a crack
house. Scary sight. Most of them die before fifty. They look like pure hell. But they hang together and think this is living. Is this where you want to go with YOUR life? I pray not. Stay the hell away
from crack and cocaine! I've lost my best brother to the stuff, and I hate it. It is NOT a 'nice' drug."
